Family Pictures..The List!
So, I would like to talk about family photos during a wedding day.
The family shots are for the immediate family & those certain members you just want in those really pretty, set up shots.
I always have my brides draft a list for me to go by while Im doing family shots. I ask them weeks in advance to get the list together & on it they write names of family members they want to have formal photos with. When the big day arrives, I have the list on hand & I let everyone know that if you don't hear your name then we will catch you at the reception ;)
I always tell the bride & groom (& I make certain that this happens) that any extended family we can always get semi-formal shots at the reception.
This list is SO helpful for a few reasons:
1.)The bride & groom DO NOT have to be responsible for sifting through the after ceremony chaos to pick out who they want in their formal photos.
I remove the stress by calling out names from my trusty list;)
2.) If there is a certain family member you really don't want in the formal family shots, then the name will not be on the list so I will not call them to join in the mix.
We will make sure to grab them at the reception & get that photo so they are involved!
3.)If there are blended families with step parents, half/step brothers or sisters then my having the list before the wedding day helps me to help the bride avoid a potentially awkward situation with a family member.
I step right in & delegate based on my trusty list;)
4.)If there is a particular person that isn't necessarily part of the immediate or extended family, but the bride wants a formal photo with them, then I am able to find them before hand & let them know to hang around once family photos begin!
And the bride has a photo that she will cherish forever!
So, brides, if you let your photographer know in advance who you would like in your formal family photos & present them with a list, I know they will love you even longer than forever!!
Til' next time!
